Uye Surana is a New York based clothing label offering women quality-made pieces for an effortless lifestyle. The line ranges from relaxed day or evening dresses, perfect wardrobe staples, and pieces for layering, including lingerie & lounge. All garments are made with care in the US with an attention to detail ensuring that they will become a beloved part of your wardrobe.
Monica Wesley, the creator behind Uye Surana, grew
up fusing interesting materials together as a means of
self-expression. Monica graduated with a BFA in fashion from Parsons
School of Design, after previously studying at The School of
the Art Institute, and
gaining a mix of experiences in the fashion industry. The
designer sought out to establish her brand, Uye Surana, by
infusing wearability, style, timelessness, and a return to
craftsmanship to her clothing. How the garment falls, fits, and wears
is considered for each piece to increase the garment's
sustainability. Many of the pieces are made in limited quantities in
New York City and Brooklyn. Hand-made elements and subtle features
remain a part of every collection.
The name Uye Surana, founded in 2010 while the designer was still a student at Parsons, is the result of searching for a name that held close ties to her familiy's heritage by combining the last names of her mother and father (before it was anglicized). The brand connects to Monica's cultural roots and to the root of dressing and personal style.
